Eradication of extreme poverty and hunger is one of the Millennium
Development Goals (MDGs). Of the world’s poor, 70% live in rural
areas and depend on rainfall for their living. During the last
decade many countries have experienced serious water shortages and
dramatic surges in food prices, plunging millions of poor people
and many net food importing countries into a food crisis. Good
agricultural practices, including soil and water conservation, are
key elements in fighting poverty and hunger as they contribute to
food security, higher rural incomes and rural prosperity.
Euroconsult Mott MacDonald has been committed to agricultural
development, including soil & water conservation virtually all
